Built in 1937 by Nippon Sharyo. C12 is a model made for economical reasons due to
the financial crisis in early Showa period. It is a very convenient model and 293 carriages were made
within 15 years.
After retiring from Chuo Honsen in Kiso Fukushima area, it was once stored at Senzu station and became
Japan National Trust’s property. It is looked after by Oigawa Railway and currently out of service.
